Feasibility and Planning Studies
Most major campaigns, particularly those with significant goals, will benefit from a feasibility or planning study that includes interviews with prospective donors and individuals supportive of your organization and knowledgeable about your community..
Depending on various factors such as your donor pool, the anticipated goal, and your history of fundraising, you may have an interview pool of 15-35 prospects; we usually also recommend an internal assessment of your fundraising systems which may result in suggestions for creating a more robust overall development program as well as steps to prepare for your campaign..
Some people think the only purpose of a pre-campaign study is to test your goal, but we find that the study is much more than that. We will explore your donors’ and prospects’ reactions to your project, the depth of their passion for your programs and organization, and their concerns for the campaign and your organization in general. We get their advice for ways to make your organization and your campaign most successful. While our interviews are confidential, we are consistently accurate in determining the amount that can be raised, and will offer serious suggestions on adapting your plans if necessary for success.
We conduct traditional feasibility studies but are also open to more innovative approaches. These might include community ‘listening tours,’ small group or family meetings, or revisions in the typical timelines for studies and campaign preparation.
The cost for a study varies widely depending on the number of interviews, the amount of pre-interview and post-interview work, the geographic region you serve, the preferences for in-person or remote interviews, and the scope of the initial assessment. We will prepare a tailored proposal for your study after we’ve discussed your needs.
